Obituary of Florence Agnes Schmitt

On the evening of September 11th, 2019, Florence A. Schmitt, also known as Floss, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 surrounded by her family. Born the third daughter of Regina and Raymond Brower on August 22, 1926 in Camden, Floss lived a long and beautiful life alongside her beloved husband William. Some of her many passions in life included quilting, nature, the beach, reading, hiking with the Outdoor Club of South Jersey, traveling the world, cooking/baking, gardening, going to the gym, watching her hummingbirds, and spending time with her family. 

Floss met her husband William when she was 16 and they married just after he returned from the war on January 18, 1946 at age 19. Amongst her many accomplishments, she has worked at the RCA building in Camden; in Philadelphia at Curtis Publishing and worked for many years as the school librarian at Eastern High School.  

Floss is survived by her husband of 73 years William “Smitty” Schmitt Jr., her daughter Jane Evans and son William Schmitt III (their spouses Tom and Brenda); grandchildren Tommy (wife Adrienne), Amy, Peter (wife Corrie) and Lea (husband Joe), and her 7 great-grandchildren Kyler, Anna, Ava, Emma, Joey, Kolten and Wyatt. She is also survived by her older sister Regina McKee. Floss is preceded in death by her grandson Jason. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday September 19, 2019 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at the COSTANTINO FUNERAL HOME, 231 W. WHITE HORSE PIKE, BERLIN, NJ 08009.
