On January 8, 2020 went home to be with the Lord. Age 54 years. Beloved son of Anna D. Pasley (née Gizelbach) and the late Charles E. Pasley. Dear and devoted brother of Rev. Robert C. Pasley, KCHS, David Pasley and his wife Dianne and the late Carol Pasley-Maddaloni. Proud uncle of Alexander and Rachel. James graduated from St. John of God School in Westville Grove, and was a powerlifter participating in many Special Olympics. He worked at the Ability Center of Westville Grove and Lifestyle Supports in Pitman, NJ. James was a faithful and devoted member of Mater Ecclesiae RC Church Berlin, NJ. Jimmy loved everyone. His opening words were always, “Give me a big, big, hug.” He loved to blow kisses and had a smile that went from ear to ear and pierced right to the heart. He really knew how to work a crowd. Jimmy wasn’t handicapped, no, we are the ones who are handicapped by our pride and arrogance. He had no envy, jealousy, hatred, or malice. He was at his best when we were all together. With a big smile he would say, “Us together.” He loved to get all dressed up in suit and tie and would tell people how sharp he looked. At a reception for the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, Jimmy met Cardinal Eagan, the then Archbishop of New York. The Cardinal, dressed in his magnificent robes stood there. The receiving line was full of all sorts of impressive people. He saw Jimmy and said I want to meet you young man. Jimmy, dressed to the nines in tuxedo and bow tie, all smiles, went right up to him, gave him a big, big hug and said, “Don’t I look sharp.” Yes, beamed the Cardinal, you are the best looking guy in this place. Jimmy was good friends with Father Benedict Groeschel. Fr Benedict wrote to Jimmy and asked Jimmy to pray for him. Fr Benedict greeted Jimmy over the air from his television show and Jimmy faithfully watched him week after week. He loved to dance and was always the last one to sit down. No matter how hot it was he always wanted to keep his tie on. He loved a good party because everyone was together. He was a great bowler in his day, he loved TV Land, Gunsmoke, the Brady Bunch, Mickey Mouse, and most especially Archie Bunker. He also loved his vanilla ice cream, Egg McGuffin, McDonald’s hamburgers and Dunkin Donuts coffee. Believe me, he wouldn’t stop bugging you until you stopped to get what he wanted. Jimmy loved his Mom. She took care of him for 54 years with a devotion that is super human. They would have their arguments and he could be stubborn. One day she was scalding him for something. She said, “You only have one mother, you better be nice to her.” Jimmy in a very clever and insightful way, with a big smile said, “Yes, One Mother.” From that day on he called her # 1 Mother. And you know what, she is. Her love, devotion, hard work and her acceptance of responsibility are beyond praise. Finally, Jimmy loved coming to Mass. He loved singing Immaculate Mary, Silent Night, O Come all ye Faithful. He would come to confession and Mom would say, “You better tell Father Robert everything, because if you don’t, I will.” The people of Mater Ecclesiae loved him dearly and were with him to the end. He has his blood family, his Faith family, and his Lifestyle Supports family, and all loved him greatly. God gave us a gift we will never forget. In these last few weeks he kept asking for Daddy and his sister Carol. He died a very Holy death and is with Our Blessed Lord, Our Lady, Saint Joseph, Saint James, Saint Albert, Dad, Carol, Aunt Jennie and all the rest. He is the blessed one. Jimmy pray for us!
