Obituary of Sara Nevada Nees

Please share a memory of Sara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sara Nevada Nees (née Smith) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sara Nees, aged 85. She is survived by her children Bill Nees (Linda) of Tuckerton, NJ, Richard Nees (Joy) of Chesilhurst, NJ, and Linda Paleczny, of Berlin, NJ, grandchildren Bill Nees Jr (Jessica), Kim Fox (William), Joseph Nees (Kayla), Richard Nees (Amy), Jennifer Ferguson (Guy), Janet Martinez (Manuel), Brian Nees (Christa), Jason Nees (Patty), Randy Nees, Kristen Paleczny (Matthew), and Ashley Mastro (Andrew), thirteen great grandchildren, and dearest friends, Mary Ellen McCleery and Betty Carroll. Predeceased by husband, Richard, brother, Roy, daughter-in-law, Ann Nees, and son-in-law, Thomas Paleczny.

Sara was raised by her parents Earl and Ethel Smith in Clementon, NJ. She attended Lower Camden County Regional High School and later worked as a seamstress. She spent many hours at Lake Worth, Clementon Park, and Watsontown Roller Rink where she was once whistled for doing the ‘drag’ a bit too low. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and particularly loved her Flyers. As the story goes, she once threw eggs at the referee during a Devils game.

Sara enjoyed traveling, crafting, sewing, leading her children’s Scout Troops, boating, and fishing. Her best fish story was the time she reeled in a marlin off the coast of the Outer Banks. In her golden years, Sara spent her winters in Florida and her summers at Hospitality Creek Campground where many laughs were had with friends under ‘the tree’. Sara’s love of dominos and Hand and Foot has been passed down to many.

Sara’s greatest joy was her children and being Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will sorely miss her kind heart, sense of humor, and sweet smile. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601 or visit www.alz.org.

Cremation services and interment will take place privately. Arrangements under the direction of COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, BERLIN NJ. To make a donation, leave lasting condolences or photos please use the links on this page.
