A tribute to Cheryl from her son Richard

If there’s one thing in life I’ve learned within the past year, it’s to never ever take life for granted, especially when it comes to your loved ones and close friends. That’s exactly what my mother Cheryl Betz was to me. I lost my mom at 5:54 p.m. this past evening. She had been battling with a poor heart valve since December. This wasn’t the first time she had faced adversity. My mother battled with severe health issues in the past as well as with the loss of my brother Kaden back in 2005. Through all of it, she still served as an excellent mother and wife. This goes to show how tough and strong of a woman she truly was. She would do anything for anyone and showed more care for others than herself. My mom Cheryl was by far the best mother a young man could ever ask for. She taught so much of what I know today and she truly was my best friend. It still feels like a nightmare as I type all of these words. I will live the rest of my life in dedicating each day to her. Every achievement and every ounce of success I obtain in life will be done in her honor.

Mom, thank you so much for everything you have done for me. If it wasn’t for the 17 years you supported and loved me, I wouldn’t be even a quarter of the man I am today. I love you so much and I’ll miss you tremendously. May you be at eternal peace with the Lord and be sure to accompany the rest of our fallen relatives and friends. God bless you mom. Until we meet again old friend..
