Susan was my first cousin. My mother was one of her mother’s younger sisters. Our mothers were very close and both settled in Park Ridge, NJ.
Susan was 10 years older than me and regularly babysat for me. When she began driving she would sometimes pick my brother and I up from our grade school. It was the first time I was in a car without an adult driving, and listening to the Beatles and other 60’s music on the car radio was exhilarating. She has been a rock in our family over the years, as recently as this past November when she drove to the Jersey Shore to lend tech support to a family Zoom with cousins all across the country to celebrate the 91st birthday of our mothers’ youngest sister, and a year earlier when Susan and Tony hosted us all for our Aunt Anne’s 90th birthday party.
We will miss her greatly. Our condolences to Tony and all Susan’s family.

Susan and I are cousins, our Moms were sisters. We both have only brothers and she was the big sister I always wanted. Susan was 10 years older than me, I adored her 60’s era bouffant hairdo and teenage fashion and looked up to her. I have a fond memory of being around 7-8 years old with Susan and the family at a lake in the Catskills. She let me try on her kitten heel shoes at the beach and I was thrilled, walking about like a model, my first steps in heels! (Yes, she was dainty and tiny and my feet at that age and hers were the same size). When our grandpa called me Susan by mistake I felt honored! She continued to be my role model, her stories of being a nurse thrilled me and was a big factor in my career choice. With a heavy heart I will say goodbye to my big sister, my mentor and my dear cousin. The entire Coakley Clan mourns her loss.

Susan is my cousin and our families were very close as we were growing up beginning in Brooklyn in the 1950's and continuing with our families migrating to Park Ridge NJ and Staten Island. Our family photo albums are filled with many photos of Susan playing together with cousins and we truly enjoyed being together as often as we could. In our adult years with our own children, we often visited with family in Cape Cod. On one of those trips to the Cape, I first met Tony and as you can see in the photo of Susan and Tony on a boat ride, they loved each other and they enjoyed just being together and being with family and friends. Susan's memory will be cherished by all of her family and friends who were fortunate to be blessed by her laughter and the light that surrounded her special form of love. Rest in Peace my dear cousin.

Susan was very welcoming to the staff and residents from her first day at Cadbury. She had a open door policy and always found time to listen to anyone . She treated her staff like family and took us all under her wing. I have learned a lot from her and will treasure the conversations that we had. My deepest condolences to the family,.

Susan will be so missed; she was part of a card club of nutty women, and she always added joy and laughter to all our games. She was such a kind and giving person, and her passing will leave a big void in our group. Sending sincere sympathy to her family that meant the world to her.

Susan and I worked together for many years. She was a power house ! There was no patient or resident who didn't get her total devotion. Their wellbeing was always, always, the top priority for her. She loved them and they loved her back. Her kind heart and smile, lit up any room she was in. And then there was her laugh, big and bright. There were many days that brought sorrow and bad news to family and patients. She was able to handle that as well, with dignity, respect and kindness. Her mission in life was to heal and love. She excelled at both. What a loss to us all but by now she's probably up in Heaven, rearranging things and giving directions !!! Rest in peace and love, dearest Susan.

For several years I have been a Pokeno buddy of Sue’s. She was always so much fun to be around and had that giggle that she had trouble stopping once it started. She had a special light that she brought to the world. I will never forget how she turned a Pokeno night a her house just before my re-marriage into a mini bridal shower. So kind and thoughtful. I am completely taken back at the news of her passing, given all the life she brought to us. I sadly send my most sincere sympathy at this loss to Tony and her much-loved daughter. —Connie McDermott (Spicer Estates, Monarda Trail)

To the family, colleagues, friends and residents of Premier Cadbury who mourn Susan's loss,
Please accept my condolences. Susan, who was the head nurse at Cadbury, became my lifeline to my father who lives in assisted living there, particularly once we all dealt with the restrictions the coronavirus has imposed. We chatted via text, talked on the phone at night, and planned surprises for the residents together. We just clicked and took pleasure in our little jokes via text. Her dedication to and affection for those in her care was so clear. Her joy in and love for family was also clear. As someone who considered myself her friend, I mourn with you. Rest in eternal peace, Susan.
