Helen Margaret “Margo” James, daughter of the late Herbert R. Bewley and the late Bernice Johnson was born March 18, 1944 at the Orange Memorial Hospital, Orange, NJ. After an extended illness, Margo stepped out into eternity at 2:52pm on October 28, 2021 while a patient at Jefferson Hospital, Stratford, NJ.
Margo was raised in Pleasantville, NJ, receiving her education in the Pleasantville school system and furthering her education in California while residing with blended family members, mom Esther and the late MSgt. Benjamin Graves. During her formative years as a youngster, Margo, accepted the Lord as her savior, and used her singing talents to give glory to God. Along with her Aunt Bert on guitar, she sang in a small group composed of her brothers and sister to bring Him the praise.
In (1968) Margo married the late Herbert V. James who tragically lost his life in an auto accident September 9, 1972, in Rahway, NJ.
Margo had a sweet spirit of love for family and friends and coveted the times she spent with those she loved. Family reunions were extremely special times for her to get updated and reminisce.
She is predeceased by siblings, brother, William “Pudgie” Bewley and two sisters, Beverly “Babs” Smith, and Lindagail “Chickie” Jackson. She leaves behind to cherish precious memories, her son, Herbert V. James Jr. (Sheila), two brothers, Herb Bewley (Monica), Atco, NJ, Linwood Jackson (Ella), Tuscaloosa, AL, Aunt, Clarissa Horton, Voorhees, NJ, her blended family, Mom Esther, two sisters Deborah (Michael) Jones, Diana Hughes (Jeff), brother Benjamin Milton Graves and niece / caregiver, Elvenea Jefferson, two God-children, and a host of first and second cousins, nieces and nephews whom she adored.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Saturday from 9:30AM-10:00 AM at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 420 White Horse Pike, Berlin NJ. Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 AM. Cremation and Interment will take place privately. Arrangements under the direction of the COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, BERLIN NJ.
