Obituary of Susan D. Gruber

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Susan Gruber, 64, of Blackwood NJ, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2022 with her loving sister Linda by her side.

Survived by her loving sister, Linda and stepdad, Dave. Her niece and goddaughter Melinda (Will), nephew Russell (Amanda), great nieces and nephews Dakota, Victoria, Bri, Mason, Lexi and Monroe; stepsisters Anna, Martha, Juanita, Jeannie and Christina. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Jean.

Sue grew up in Magnolia (later moved to Somerdale) and was a faithful member of Magnolia United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served many ham & oyster dinners with her family.  She graduated from Sterling High School and then attended Bible College of Philadelphia. Sue was also a member of the church at Malaga Camp where she was a resident on site, a church youth group counselor for many years and in her younger days was a member of the Malaga Touring Choir. Sue held various positions over the years including working in a law office, daycare center, as a sales associate in Walmart and was a Princess House & Stampin’ Up! consultant for many years. The family vacationed in Brigantine, NJ growing up but as an adult, Sue found her love for Cape May! Especially the Admiral Building, Sunset Beach and Dave’s house in the Villas. Many times, you could find Sue strolling through the streets of Cape May admiring the beautiful Victorian houses and shopping at the Washington Street Mall.

Sue, affectionately known as Suzie, was fun and quirky.  She had a love for the color purple, music, Elvis, cats, parades, old tv shows, photography, the jersey shore, little bottles of scented hand sanitizer (squirts), attending coffee houses and creating beautiful cards and crafts; anything unusual. She was known for giving interesting gifts and her family looked forward to receiving her unique treasures. Sue was happy go lucky, sweet and had a heart of gold. Loved bold colors and color coordinating her jewelry and pins with her many scarves.  But most important to her was her family and the many friends that she adored and her faith. Lovingly known by her sister as “Sister Deer”, she will be missed dearly and will be forever in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and again Thursday morning from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, 231 W.
