Obituary of Peter J. Crescenz

Peter James Crescenz “Pete”, age 70,  passed away at his home with his family early morning of April 19, 2022.  Son of the late Charles and Mary (née McLaughlin) Crescenz. He was born and raised in Philadelphia.

Pete enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. In Nov., 1969, he served briefly before being honorably discharged due to the heroic death of his brother and best friend Michael.  He was appointed Lance Corporal in the Marine Reserves and awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Pete met his beloved wife Joan, were together for years before his friend whisked them off to Arizona to get married.  They married on a snowcapped mountaintop in Flagstaff, came back and made a home and started a family in Northeast Philadelphia.

Pete and his family moved to W. Berlin in February, 1996.  He enjoyed all sports, especially his beloved EAGLES, along with all Philadelphia sports teams.  He loved his family, spending any time he could at the Crescenz home in Sea Isle City. Later he and family vacationed in Wildwood Crest, spending time taking his early walks on the beach.  He also enjoyed his family outings to the country browsing shops and sampling the country cooking and wares.    

Pete worked hard all his life, starting as a mason and ending up as a laborer in the Heavy Hwy. Union.  He helped rebuild Delaware Ave. along the river always bringing home antiques he’d dug up from under the 100-year-old cobblestones as well as bringing home huge sculpture like stones.

Pete was the loving husband of Joan Crescenz, loving father to his children Candace and Michael Crescenz and cherished grandfather to Mason his little buddy who he so enjoyed massaging his shoulders, helping him with his chores and giving him his allowance. You are so missed Pete by all who knew you.

He is also survived by three brothers, Steven, Christopher and Joseph, their wives, nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his older brother Charles.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday May 20, 2022 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at the COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, 231 W. WHITE HORSE PIKE, BERLIN NJ 08009.
