Obituary of James D. Clark

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James “Jim” D. Clark, 67 years, of Berlin NJ, loving husband and father of three, passed away on May 8, 2022 at age 67.

Jim was born, the youngest of four, on April 6, 1955, in Odessa, TX to Russel and Tommie Lou Clark (née Lucas). After graduating high school, he started his own t-shirt company then moved to New Mexico where he met Ria (Edna) Boyle. It was love at first sight and they were engaged within six months of their first date. On June 14, 1986, he and Ria married. They raised two sons, James (Jamie) and Travis. After having the boys they moved their family to NJ, where they later adopted a teenage daughter, Koryanne.

Jim had a passion for spending time with his family from family camping trips to relaxing at the family cabin in New Mexico. He enjoyed time outdoors fishing and playing sports with his boys. His love for the outdoors started at a young age when he got the opportunity to work as a ranch hand at a girl scout camp. He also loved watching the NFL, especially when Dallas played the Eagles. He would dress up in full Cowboys gear and parade outside the local Wawa. Jamie followed in his footsteps of being a Cowboys fan.

In 2007, Jim and Ria trusted Jesus as their Savior and They became members of Solid Rock Baptist Church. At this church he experienced spiritual growth, the addictions ministry playing a large role. Attending each service, often alone, he led by example. This dedication led to his family dedicating their lives to the Lord and his son Travis surrendering to the ministry and now becoming a pastor.

He was known for being a meek, mild, and humble man. When personal or family problems would arise, he always kept a cool, calm, and collective demeanor. One of the only times he came out of character was when, as a small child, CVS would not allow Travis to use the restroom.

Jim loved his grandkids. He was a proud and loving grandfather to four grandchildren. He always enjoyed making them smile through giving gifts, making silly faces, and telling jokes.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Russel Clark, his mother, Tommie Lou Lucas, his older brother Bruce, and his eldest brother Mark. He is survived by his wife, of 35 years, Ria, his two sons, Jamie and Travis (Chaniece), his daughter Koryanne, grandson Elijah (11), granddaughters Jamie- Kate (3), Emberleigh (2), Shiloh (11 months), sister Debbie, his step-father Bennie Lucas, sister-in-laws Kathleen and Karen (Ron), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
