Obituary of Jane B. Evans

Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jane Barbara Evans (née Schmitt), 72, of Tabernacle NJ, passed away suddenly on June 9, 2022.

Jane was born on October 13, 1949 to parents William and Florence Schmitt in Camden, NJ. She had one younger brother, William Schmitt III. After graduating from Eastern High School, Jane married her best friend and High School sweetheart, Thomas Evans on October 17th, 1970, and they remained happily married for 51 years.  They went on to have two children, Thomas Barclay Jr and Amy Elizabeth. Jane dedicated the rest of her life to being a full-time homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Jane was a devoted & loving wife, mother, and daughter; always making her family her first priority.

Jane loved spending time on the water, she would read a good book while her husband fished.  In their newlywed days, Tom and Jane owned a boat and cherished time on the Great Bay before starting their family and building their own home in Tabernacle. An avid collector, Jane spent many hours with Tom at flea markets and auctions. Jane took a lot of pride in her home, she was talented in decorating inside and out, and made her home one of a kind. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, attending Phillies games, and vacationing in the Outer Banks, Long Beach Island, and Sarasota Florida. Jane would never turn down an opportunity to play a card game or board game with her family or friends.  She appreciated the free things in life the most; star gazing, a walk in the woods, sitting by the ocean, rainy nights, thunderstorms, sunsets, bonfires and simply enjoying nature.

Jane was inseparable with her best friend and husband Tom, and when Tom wasn’t working, they were rarely seen apart. She loved animals and her two dogs Abby and Bella, as well as the many other companions that came and went over the years. Her yard was no stranger to a wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, geese and horses.

Jane will be extremely missed by her family and friends.

Jane was predeceased by her husband Thomas, mother Florence, and nephew Jason.  She is survived by her son Thomas (Adrienne), daughter Amy Elizabeth (Todd Lisella), grandchildren Anna and Emma, father William Schmitt Jr., brother William Schmitt III (Brenda), nephew Peter (Corrie), and niece Lea (Joe).
