Obituary of Thomas D Ellison

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Thomas D Ellison (TD) of Lindenwold, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 92. He was the fifth son of Simon Ellison Sr. and Josephine Satterwhite – Ellison. He was born on January 11, 1931, raised in Newberry, South Carolina, and graduated from Drayton Street High School. He then relocated to Philadelphia, PA, to further his education at Penn State's main campus and Rutgers University. Thomas worked at Campbell Soup Company for 40 years. He advanced to become a Technology Supervisor and eventually received the title of Area Manager.

In 1953 he met the love of his life, Vada N. Brown. In 1956 they were united in holy matrimony. Three sons were born from this union: Michael, Anthony, and Edward. In addition, Thomas had two other sons, Thomas Jr. and Dennis. He also had one adopted son Luis Moore and three extraordinary ladies whom he affectionately called his daughters, Dianna Hawkins, Miyoung Bartholomew, and Cheryl Corbin.

Known as a light-hearted and compassionate soul, Thomas was a fantastic dancer; his specialties were ballroom and the Bop. Whenever he went dancing, they would make sure he had plenty of room on the dance floor to do his THANG! He was well-liked and loved by many. Whoever came in contact with him loved him immediately. He loved the simple things and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. After retiring, Thomas and Vada spent time traveling the states. Their unique places to visit were Las Vegas, Florida, Detroit, MI, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod. Thomas had three special friends: Louis Sanches, Nigel Spence, and Donny Sellers. He was an avid fan of the Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers. Thomas' favorite songs were Take Five by Dave Brubeck Quarter and Love and Happiness by Al Green.

His wife, Vada, and his four brothers preceded Thomas in death. He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Thomas Jr. (Linda), Dennis, Michael (Michelle), Anthony, and Edward, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, his loving sister Frances Eggleston, his loving niece Jonora Eggleston, and a host of nieces and nephews. Thomas's loving family will greatly miss him, and he will forever be in their hearts! Rest in Peace, King Thomas (TD)
