Obituary of James J. Moan

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023 James J. Moan, a beloved husband and father, passed away. He was eighty-two. Born to Edward and Anna in Camden New Jersey.  Jim was raised in Audubon Park and was known as one of “the Moan Boys”.  While working at a local gas station, Jim would get his lunch at a drive-in diner called The Keg, where he met Carol working as a car hop.  They dated for 5 years, got married in 1966 and in November celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Jim proudly served his country in the NJ Army National Guard including a deployment to Newark in 1967 during the riots.  He was a skilled sheet metal mechanic working at Pepco Manufacturing Company in Somerdale, and RCA/GE in Camden.  He then worked at Cooper Hospital in project engineering.

Using his construction and carpentry skills, Jim often helped his friends, family, and neighbors with projects and home improvements.  When he was younger he enjoyed riding his Harley; a hobby he picked up again after retirement.  He cherished his cars and always keep them in immaculate condition.  Jim enjoyed skiing trips with his family to the Poconos and ski resorts in New England.  Having a large family on both sides, Jim and Carol would frequently be found at family get-togethers and celebrations. During their retirement, they traveled to many locations in the United States and also foreign countries.

Jim is survived by his wife Carol (nee DuCoin), son Jim (Nicole C.), grandsons Devon and Seth, and brother Joe (Billie). He is pre-deceased by his parents and brothers Edwards, Michael, and Charles. Jim is also survived by his in-laws Phyllis (Jim) Wills, Francis (Maryjane) DuCoin, Floss (Steven) Ross, David (Dot) DuCoin, Edward (Michele) DuCoin. Also, by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 9:30AM-10:30AM at COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, 231 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM at Saint Simon Stock Parish, 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ.
