Obituary of George S. Loomis

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George S. Loomis, 88 years, of Berlin, passed away on May 8, 2023. Beloved son of the late George and Bertha (née Peters) Loomis. Loving husband of Edna Loomis (née Fairhurst). Devoted father of Beverley Brown (husband Randy Ciglar) and Randy Brown (wife Laurie Brown). Dear brother of Bertha Balcom (husband Earl Balcom), Barbara Kardys and Howard Loomis (wife Bonnie Loomis). Cherished grandfather of Nicole Ciglar, Kristina Hedger, Danielle Wilhelm, Ian Brown and Tyson Brown and great grandfather of Oaklyn Wilhem.

George was born in Inwood, New York, graduated from Pulaski, NY High School, worked on the Loomis family farm, served in the Air Force, graduated from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and worked as the Business Administrator for 37 years at the University of Pennsylvania Physics and Astrology department. George was an avid sports fan who truly loved his Penn Quakers, so much that he attended over 300 consecutive Penn Men’s basketball games (home and away). The streak ended when he attended his granddaughter’s wedding in Florida. George also loved to travel, dance with his wife, play golf, watch sports, loved his family, and entertain his grandkids. George was very active in communities such as sitting on residential club house boards, publishing a 55 and over community newsletter with Edna, and guest coaching Penn Alumni basketball games. George never liked to be a passenger in the car, he always had to drive. That is the way George led his life, always taking the lead and coordinating events or trips along with Edna. George’s grandkids could never do any wrong and he loved them very much. He displayed his love for them by attending as many sporting events as possible, going to graduations, weddings and birthday parties. Family was very important to George and we love him for being a part of our lives and sharing so many great memories. George, you can now have your dessert before dinner anytime without Mom telling you no. We love you and will miss you very much!

Services for George will be held privately. Arrangements under the direction of the COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, BERLIN NJ. To leave lasting condolences or photos, please use the links on this page.
