Obituary of Alice Ruth Shaughnessy

Alice Ruth Shaughnessy, 80 years, passed away peacefully at Spring Oak Assisted Living in Berlin, NJ on May 14, 2023. Alice was born on May 12, 1943, second daughter of Edward and Helen Ballard, sister to Janet, Marion and Joanne. She grew up in Hawthorne, NY, and married husband Joseph Shaughnessy in 1968. Joe and Alice eventually settled in Berlin, NJ, where they've resided for the past 45 years. Alice was the dear mother to sons John and Joey, and daughters Betsy and Leah. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, Nora, Jill, Landon, Erin, Evey, Ryan and Elin. Alice was primarily a homemaker, but worked as a secretary in her twenties, and then part time at the Marie Fleche Memorial Library in Berlin prior to retirement. Alice loved playing cards, reading, trips to the casinos, singing show tunes and taking her grandchildren to McDonald's.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at St. Simon Stock Parish Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, NJ. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to donate to the Marie Fleche Memorial Library, 49 S.
